PPA Frequently Asked Questions

How does a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) work?

With a solar PPA you agree to have a solar system installed on your roof at no cost to you, and to purchase the power your system generates over 25 years at a discounted, pre-determined rate. We own the solar panels, not the homeowner, so instead of paying for the system, you pay a much lower rate for your energy that the panels produce. At the end of the Year, you may also receive a credit from the utility company!

What happens after 25 years?

At the end of the 25 year term, you may have the system removed for free, upgrade to a new system and sign a new agreement, renew your agreement, or buy the system for at an extremely low rate.

What happens if I move?

If you move, you may transfer the agreement (with the low rate you agreed upon) to the new Homeowner, buy the system outright, or prepay the expected remaining payments.

Is my monthly payment fixed or does it fluctuate?

Yes your payment is fixed annually. Your system is guaranteed to produce the power we say it will or you get a check for the difference however, this is extremely rare. IF you produce more power than was quoted to you, you keep the utility credit and are not charged for the over production. You pay the same every month. No more surprises! Your rate by law cannot go up more than 2.99% per year. On a $130 a month bill, 2.99% is $3.88

Do I get to keep the tax credit with a PPA?

No. Sunrun owns and maintains the system for you so… They get the credit for providing the system.

How To Get Started

Start With The Survey

Quite literally, beginning your Sol Power journey is as easy as picking up your phone and giving us a call. The first step will be for us to schedule a SURVEY. After we’ve reviewed your utility bill for the previous twelve months of usage, we are able to sit down and establish exactly how much solar power your household is going to use each year. This enables us to determine how many solar panels will be needed to meet your unique usage needs. We also check out your home’s roof and Meter/Breaker Box, and from there, begin your design!

DESIGN

Next, we design your panel placements; we partner together to figure out where the panels are placed for optimal solar energy production and an appealing aesthetic. Obviously, the most important factor is that the panels are receiving as much energy from the sun as possible. However, we also know that no homeowner wants their castle to look like an eyesore! So a sleek & sexy design that maintains curb appeal with maximal sun exposure is a win-win!

COUNTY APPROVAL

After your survey and determining your panel design, we submit everything to the county for a permit, receive approval, and move on to installation! Once your new solar panels are installed and deemed ready, you will receive permission to operate (PTO) and voila! You’ve gone solar! We serve Johnson Valley CA, Apple Valley CA, Phelan CA, Oak Hills CA, Lucerne Valley CA, Oro Grande CA, and Bell Mountain CA.
